Vintage Boardwalk Birthday — Eli Turns One!

Eli is turning one! Come on in and check out all of the details of his vintage boardwalk birthday celebration!

Vintage Boardwalk Birthday

Eli’s birthday is this Friday but we celebrated with family and friends on Saturday with a vintage boardwalk-themed pool party. I cannot believe this little guy is already turning one! It’s been a tough year for us and he has certainly brought some much-needed sunshine. He’s a happy boy with an infectious laugh and huge appetite and there couldn’t be a better way to celebrate him than gathering on a bright, sunny day for good times, good laughs and plenty of good eats.

We used a castle tent we picked up at a yard sale last weekend to create a fun sensory play area for the kids using sand, sea shells and other beach finds. They had a blast making their own bottled sand art.

We used scrap 4X4s to create beach bouys and decoupaged photos to square slabs of wood for fun party decor that will get used beyond the party. The signs were made with scrap pallet wood and turned out so cute, I’ll probably keep them up all summer. I’m all about decorations that have a life beyond the party!

I was so excited to find that Applegate makes gluten free corn dogs, which meant Ada and I could indulge in some concession-style fare with everyone else! We served up corn dogs, crinkle-cut fries, fruit, popcorn, lemonade and old-fashioned sodas.

Another thing I like to do is use decor that is consumable so I don’t have to store it later. These vintage sodas are a great example of “decoration” that gets used up during the party.

We served the snowcone-inspired cupcakes and Eli’s ferris wheel smash cake on this fun concession cart I created using a vintage tea cart from Everything But the House.

We wanted Eli’s highchair to look like he was coming around a ferris wheel so we created one with pool noodles and trays from the Dollar Tree and scrap wood. I painted everything with Martha Stewart vintage paint. It actually spins, too!
