What are some of my favorite decor trends of 2025 so far? I’ve been gathering inspiration and making mood boards, I’ve noticed a few design shifts that feel less like fleeting fads and more like a big, cozy exhale. Let’s get cozy.
These decor trends for 2025 aren’t about chasing perfection — they’re about creating a space that supports adn soothes your soul.
Here are a few of my favorite trends this year that I’m absolutely leaning into.
Biophilic Design: Nature Is My Co-Designer
I don’t know about you, but when life feels overwhelming, I always end up outside — barefoot in the grass, sun on my face. Biophilic design brings that same feeling inside. We’re talking indoor plants (real or faux, no shame here), natural wood tones, and raw textures like stone, clay, and rattan. I’ve purchased two faux olive trees* and used them both inside and outside (for the igloo this past winter). I love them! Fake trees and plants have come a LONG way since the cheap looking silk flowers and ivy from years ago.
One trend I love? Little indoor water features — even just a tabletop fountain. The sound of trickling water is so grounding. I’ve got a little outdoor fountain that I made a few years ago and I love it. I want to make one for inside and also another one for the backyard. While I love the fountain out front, I’m rarely out there to enjoy it.
I decided a year or so ago that since the beach is one of my favorite places, I’d like for my house to remind me of being at the beach. I’ve begun to add natural elements to a few spaces — starfish, shells, pebbles, sea glass and even fresh scented candles.
Elements of nature add a warmth and coziness to any space, inside or out. It’s not just pretty — it feels good.
Organic Minimalism: Soft, Simple, and Soulful
Minimalism used to feel cold to me, like a white room you were afraid to breathe in. But organic minimalism? That’s a whole different story.
This trend is all about calming color palettes, curvy furniture, and breathable, uncluttered spaces — but still full of warmth. Imagine a creamy boucle chair, a stack of well-loved books, and sunlight streaming through linen curtains. That’s the vibe.
I recently swapped out our chunky bookshelf for open wooden shelves and added just a few of my favorite things — a candle, a photo, a tiny vase of dried flowers. It instantly made the room feel more spacious and serene.
Color Is Making a Comeback — and I’m Here for It
Neutrals will always have my heart, but this year’s color trends have me feeling brave. Decor trends 2025 are all about balance — think moody greens, navy blues, and soft pastels paired with deeper, richer shades. It’s not neon party time, but it is about letting color tell a story.
In our home, I’m adding little pops — a mustard yellow throw on the bed, a dusty rose print in the hallway, navy trim around the windows. Color doesn’t have to scream to be powerful. It just has to feel like you.
Designing for Wellness: Spaces That Breathe With You
One of the most beautiful shifts I’m seeing this year is the idea of home as sanctuary. Not just a place we crash after work — a place that supports our well-being.
That could mean a meditation nook with soft lighting and cozy blankets. Or maybe it’s a space where you roll out your yoga mat and stretch out the stress. For me, it’s a tea station tucked into a kitchen corner, where I light a candle and sip slowly in the morning before the day begins.
These wellness-centered spaces remind us that home isn’t just functional — it’s healing.
The Slow Living Aesthetic: Less Rush, More Ritual
This might be my favorite of all the decor trends 2025 has to offer. Slow living is about creating a space that invites you to linger — that encourages connection, reflection, and rest.
I’ve started placing things intentionally rather than decoratively. A woven basket by the door that holds the day’s mail. A stack of favorite cookbooks open to bookmarked pages. A candle we actually burn (not just admire).
Our homes should tell our stories, not just match our Pinterest boards.
Final Thoughts
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the “new year, new style” chatter, let this be your permission slip: you don’t have to redecorate your whole house. Just start with a corner. A color. A plant. A little pocket of peace.
Because the best decor trends for 2025 are the ones that make you breathe a little easier — and love your space a little more.
